I really do take every opportunity that I get to set the table and Christmas ALWAYS gives me a good excuse, and being a skilled junker on a tight budget this is where my skills serve me well.  My mission was to find what I needed at thrift stores for an elegant Christmas table setting.

I think that I did really well, let me give you the break down;

Glassware $.50 ea and I bought 8 of each glass. A 40 piece set of Staffordshire Bone China $10.  A 20 piece set of Glass plates $4. Chargers $1 each, napkins $1 each. So this table setting for 8 cost me a Grand Total of $26!!!!!

Plus, I can’t tell you how much I absolutely LOVE the vinyl monograms that my friend Leah from Spanky’s Creations designed and cut for me.  It was so simple to add them to the bottom of the glass plates for that special touch of elegance.  And, aren’t you totally impressed with my napkins folding abilities????  I’m really giving some thought to going Pro! I hear there’s a big competition in NY, and I could be a contender!

Bringing Thrift Store Finds Up To Par

Oh, and one more thing.  Chris’ Tip # (ok, I’ve lost count). Don’t ever be afraid to buy plates with those nasty fork marks on them, that’s an easy fix.

I mix up my own soft scrub and you can find it on my Green Cleaning page.  Simply apply it to the plate and gently buff the marks out. If you don’t want to mix up your own, I would suggest using Barkeepers Friend.

That’s it for me!!  I’ve got a Hot Chocolate Bar just begging me to visit. So, what do you think?  Did I manage an elegant Christmas table setting?
My family wishes that you and your family have a Joyous and Merry Christmas, oh…..and don’t let the Christmas Spread that’s on your table find it’s way around your waist!!!
