Long ago before I became Faded Bluebird, I bought a huge roll of brown butcher paper at an auction, many Christmas Meltdowns later, I still have a lot left. So, I needed to get creative and come up with some Christmas wrapping ideas to dress it up, because this paper is going to be with me when my kids file for social security. Using stamps, magic markers, glitter, greenery, cookie cutters, candy and whatever else I could think of, I was able to stick to using that paper and still give a pretty package.
I’m going to out myself before the world and admit that I change it up with an all white paper, and I have bought a couple of rolls of simple red and white paper during the after Christmas sales. I believe everyone deserves to go on a wild tangent, but my frugal angel often reminds me that I have that huge roll. She’s a killjoy.
But as it turns out, there are so many ideas out there for using butcher or craft paper that I will stay happy with my auction buy for several more years. And, I’m going to share my discoveries with you. I searched blog-orama and these are some of my favorites.

Simple & Elegant
I just LOVE the Boxwood Wreath made by Lucy at Craftberry Bush she has a wonderful blog to just hang out but don’t get lost over there that you can’t find your way back! And then look at that French ticking from Amy at The Idea Room. I just love French ticking and Amy has some great ideas!
I love plaid at Christmas. Wrapping paper, scrapbook paper, ribbons, throws and plaid deer head pillows. Bring some plaid into your life this year.
Put Some Fun In It
Who wouldn’t be excited to open such a creative gift? Depending on your gift giving radar, they may like the wrapping better! It is total love for the Santa Stache Mask from Heather at Growing Spaces. My girls are definitely getting these, combined with the Santa hats we all wear to open presents, this wrapping idea is sure to be a hit! And I always enjoy my time with Rachel at Masion Depax, Christmas music sheets….LOVE IT!
But It’s The Inside That Counts
It’s an old saying with a lot of truth, just not in this case. Well, to me anyway. I like spending an extra couple of minutes to doll up my packages. I haven’t timed myself or anything, but I don’t think it takes long to snap some berries off my boxwood and tie it up with string. But this gift is made with twigs and tiny puff balls. Meowchie is simply brilliant.
I hope you enjoy the madness leading up to the holidays! But at least now you don’t have to worry about Christmas wrapping ideas. I’ll be wrapping this weekend because for the first time EVER I’m done with Christmas gifts prior to the week of. I’m Christmas Batman this year! Ohhh, I gotta go….the Christmas tree is throwing out a bat signal.
