Picketing My Own Home

I have been collecting and using a ton of old pickets lately.  Everything from frames, shelves to furniture.  I’ve collected so many pickets I could probably picket every room in my house, but that might be taking the look a little too far.  Some of these projects I’ve sold, other I have put into the house.  I’ve shared most of these projects with you already, but here’s a review.

New Dog – Old Trick

Then I stumbled upon a great opportunity!  I saw these chairs on a Facebook Group that I belong to, but before I could get to them a friend of mine bought them.  And before I could break out my best temper tantrum, she sent me a message telling me that she bought this with me in mind, because she knew I was looking for two iron chairs for my dining room.  Junkin friends are the best!

She kept two and I received my two, and immediately set to work. This was an easy fix and only took about an hour and a half.  But as soooooo often happens with me, I get overly excited before I check the facts.

Yeah, I made a basic decorating mistake.  I didn’t check to see if they would fit my dining room table BEFORE I put seats in them!  They were too short, not the seats but the back of the chairs.  I wanted to be able to see at least half of the chair backs over the table.  But, they still turned out pretty, didn’t they!!!??!!

At least I found out before I painted the seats! I ended up selling them back to my friend so that she had a set.  She loved the seats and I was happy that someone that could use them gave them a good home.  But it did inspire me to put a picket seat in the iron bench that sits at the head of my dining room table instead.  So the search continues for two more iron chairs.  SIGH!

Oh wait……that means more Junkin!  I can live with that.

Happy Picketing!
