Don’t you just love this post title! Try saying it 3 times real fast….go ahead, I’ll wait cause I know you’re gonna try. Could you do it?!!? Yeah, me either. But I still love the title and it’s so dead on cause today, I’m preaching about peaches!
I have one tree, that’s it just one self pollinating peach tree that proves that sometimes you can get more done without a man getting in the way. This jewel produces enough peaches for myself, my family, my extended family, my friends, total strangers who come to my house and I’m thinking of inviting the local fire department to pay a visit and pick peaches. That has nothing to do with my obsession with buff fireman, I’m just all about helping others. Really! That’s why I’m sharing some of my favorite Peach Recipes!
If Life Gives You Crumbs….Consider Yourself Blessed!
This was actually one of the first recipes I came up with in my early married life. You remember, before the kids, after school sports, work, commute and designated couple time? It’s quick, it’s easy and it’s plum delicious!
Peach Crumb Yum
1/2 c. soft or melted butter – 1 c. brown sugar – 3/4 c. flour – 3/4 c. oats
Mix these together. In a small casserole dish, put a can of peach pie filling (you can use store bought if you want, but I’ll think you’re nuts….OR you can make your own! You can find the recipe HERE), then press the oat mixture firmly on top. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes checking frequently after 10 mins. It all depends on your oven.
What’s summer without fruit flavored tea? Well, for me it’s bliss. I’ve had to do some fast talking to keep my Southern Woman status because, well….I hate tea. There, I’ve said it. YES! I HATE TEA! But my friends and family seem to exists on the stuff and they seem to enjoy my Peach Tea, they swear you will too!
To give credit where credit is due, I’m going to share two more of my favorite Peach recipes, neither is mine, but both are swoon worthy!
You ABSOLUTELY have to try Shugary Sweets Peach Hand Pies! This is a serious OMG rating!
And this has been a favorite for a long time now….Peach Fritters from Bunny’s Warm Oven! Since Southerners don’t consider anything fully cooked unless it’s deep fried, this is our finest cuisine at it’s best. Sugary, fruity and deep fried. It makes you light headed just thinking about it. Worry about the calories later, you only live once, I don’t know anyone who while laying on their deathbed will regret they ate a fritter instead of one more salad.
That’s it for me today. I still have a ton of peaches to peel and chop, but I’m not upset because there’s nothing more satisfying than opening a jar of peach pie filling in January made with my own peaches from the little tree that doesn’t know when to stop.
